Economic relations between Hungary and Romania continue to perform excellently, following the trends of the past years, and the current period marked by economic challenges has not disrupted this positive dynamic. The trade figures for 2024 also provide grounds for optimism. Romania remains a key partner in Hungary’s foreign economic relations. In 2024, it ranked as Hungary’s 8th largest trading partner, accounting for 4% of total Hungarian foreign trade.With a 6% share in exports, Romania was our second most important export destination, while on the import side, it occupied the 12th position with a 3% share.
The Economic Department of the Embassy is responsible for related to the development of Hungarian exports, attracting foreign investment to Hungary, and facilitating capital investments by Hungarian companies abroad. It also carries out economic diplomacy activities in Romania.
