Organized by the Hungarian Theatre Association (MASZIN) and the Liszt Institute in Bucharest, the festival brought the highlights of Transylvanian Hungarian theatres to the Romanian capital for the fourth time this year. On this occasion, H.E. Ambassador Katalin Kissné Hlatki hosted a reception in the garden of her residence on September 30, where she said in her welcoming speech: “The festival not only offers selected performances, but also creates a meeting point between artists and spectators, traditional and contemporary theatre forms. BukFest is also a special cultural event that promises exciting experiences for all theatre lovers – regardless of whether they are Hungarian or Romanian, professional or lay, local or guest.” Gedő István Bessenyei, artistic director of the Harag György Company of the Northern Theatre of Satu Mare and the recently elected new president of MASZIN said: “Although BukFest is the youngest of the association’s festivals, it is the flagship of MASZIN in terms of its importance, as it creates contact with the profession and festival audience in the capital.
