During his visit, Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó discussed with President of UDMR Hunor Kelemen, Zoltán Soós, Mayor of Târgu Mureş, and visited three investments in Mureş County, which were made with the support of Hungary. The Minister said that in recent years the Hungarian state has provided HUF 70 billion in investment promotion support to Transylvania, with the help of which some 6,000 small, medium and large companies have made investments worth HUF 135 billion. This year, 53 large agricultural investments were made, with a total value of HUF 40 billion, for which the Hungarian government provided HUF 20 billion in support.

Péter Szijjártó stated at a joint press conference with the President of the UDMR that he did not come to Transylvania to intervene in Romanian domestic politics. In the elections, the citizens of Romania will decide on the future of their country, and Hungary will respect their decision. He added: for pragmatic reasons, Hungary is interested in good cooperation with Romania. Romania is the fourth most important export market of the Hungarian economy, which is very sensitive to exports. More than 5.5 billion euros of Hungarian goods and services are targeted at the Romanian market every year. Romania is the eighth most attractive destination for Hungarian capital investments and Hungary's ninth most important trading partner. “The good relations between the two countries are good for both Hungarians living in Romania and Romanians living in Hungary. We believe that a stronger UDMR representation in the Romanian Parliament would be useful to make Hungarian-Romanian cooperation more successful. Therefore, from the point of view of the future of Hungarian-Romanian relations, I respectfully ask the people of Hungarian nationality living in Romania to go at the end of the week and participate in the parliamentary elections ".

Péter Szijjártó also said: Kelemen Hunor and the UDMR were asked how they could help the Hungarians in Transylvania, and they were told that economic assistance would be important, because this would strengthen the Hungarian community and the area where this community lives. "I would like to believe that my Romanian colleagues also think that the economic strengthening of the Hungarian national community is as much an interest of Romania just like it is an interest of Hungary. I can say for sure that the program is synchronized with Romanian, European and international legislation. It also creates jobs here, generates tax revenue for the budget and contributes to the development of the local economy. It also naturally strengthens the Hungarian community living here. "
