On 1st February, 2017 H.E. Ambassador Botond Zákonyi presented Mihály BENCZE, Director of the Ady Endre High School in Bucharest, with the Pro Cultura Hungarica ministerial award signed by H.E. Mr. Zoltán Balog, Minister of Human Capacities of Hungary. The ceremony and reception that followed were attended by the family members, disciples of Mihály Bence, together with the teachers of the Ady Endre High School. The performance by Hortenzia Forray opera singer and István Tajti violinist made the event memorable.

 

The ministerial recognition in relation to the works of Bencze Mihály includes the following:

Bencze Mihály was born on 21st November, 1954 in Négyfalu (Brasov county). Bencze Mihály was one of the initiators in 1989 to found an independent Hungarian high-school in Brasov, thus he became the teacher of mathematics from 1990 in the Áprily Lajos High-School in Brasov. As of 2013 he is the director of the Hungarian-language Ady Endre High School in Bucharest. The competitions organised for the young Hungarian community living in Romania accompany his life. In addition to the teaching work of decades he invested a huge effort to organize international mathematics competitions. Bencze Mihály founded the International Hungarian Mathematics Competition which aims to provide the youth of the Carpathian Basin with the chance to compete in Hungarian within the world of numbers. This competition is organised annually. Apart from the field of mathematics Bencze Mihály performed and continues to perform great work in the Transylvanian Hungarian literature as well. Thanks to his studies the works of Zajzoni Rab István and Tóthpál Dániel hétfalusi chango poets could be re-published, he also edites the Bucharest Hungarian Official Bulletin, as a scientific – literature periodical. As a true educator, he placed great emphasis on the fact that students could learn the process of editing periodicals, thus with his patronage lots of student papers appeared during the years.
