On 7 February 2017 Minister of State for Cultural and Science Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary István Íjgyártó had a discussion with Minister of State of the bilateral and strategic affairs of the Euro-Atlantic region of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs George Ciamba.

During the meeting the parties reinforced their commitments on continuation of the development of the strategic partnership between the two EU and NATO Member States, namely Hungary and Romania.

The Ministers of State reviewed the further possibilities and tasks deriving from the Basic Treaty and the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Hungary and Romania, also the topical questions of the European agenda, inter alia the issue of the Eastern Neighbourhood policy and the European path of the Western-Balkan countries. The parties also discussed actual questions of the international security policy and the energy security of the South-East European region.
