Thanks to the success of the Bartók Year of 2016, in the framework of the series of concerts of the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, on 10-11th May 2018 there was the premiere of the orchestral suite of Béla Bartók: The Wooden Price, in the grand hall of the Romanian Atheneum. It was the first time for the audience of Bucahrest to listen to the Wooden Prince – 101 years after the premiere of the ballet of Bartók Béla in Budapest. The interest has been reflected in the significance of the event, both on 10 and 11 May there was a full-house performance at the Philharmonic's 900-seat room. The conductor was Cristian Măcelaru, a young, talented conductor of Romanian origin, one of the winners of the 2012 Solti International Conduit Competition in 2012 and 2014, and since May of this year he is the head of the Cologne WDR Symphony Orchestra. In the midst of the stormy applause and the stamping of the orchestra, the excellent conductor showed the scores he used and pointed to the author's name, indicating that it is Béla Bartók who is worth the applause. This extraordinary manifestation was greeted by the audience by standing up.
