On September 4, 2020, the second motorway border crossing between Hungary and Romania was handed over in the presence of the Hungarian and Romanian Foreign Ministers and the Romanian Minister of Transport.

Nagykereki-Bors II. motorway border crossing connects the Hungarian M4 motorway with the five-kilometre section of the Romanian A3 motorway. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated that the new connection is a common success, a good basis for building trust and mutual respect between the two countries. "Based on this trust and mutual respect, even difficult issues can be resolved and closed." He also noted that Hungary's geographical location also determines its interactions with its neighbours.

He underlined that the quality of neighbourly relations also depend on the connections. He added that, it is in Hungary's interest to have as many crossings as possible; on the Hungarian-Romanian border, the current 12th road crossing point, the opening of which reduces the average distance between the crossing points from 41 to 37 kilometres. Thanks to the new crossing point, an expressway connection will be established between Oradea and Debrecen, and even between Oradea and Budapest.

Minister Szijjártó mentioned that after the opening of the Csanádpalota-Nagylak II motorway border crossing point, we had to wait five years for the second expressway connection. He added that it is planned that in four years, in 2024, a third between Csenger and Satu Mare can be opened. Péter Szijjártó also pointed out that all that is necessary due to the economic relations of the two countries and the Hungarian communities across the border.

Romania is Hungary's ninth most important trading partner, fourth export market and eighth most important destination country for Hungarian capital expenditures, he added. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade also mentioned the development of energy interconnection between the two countries. He stated that a modern gas pipeline connection with increased capacity will be established next year, and high-voltage electricity networks will be connected in the future.

Following his visit to the UDMR headquarters in Oradea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Affairs Péter Szijjártó stated that the Hungarian government attaches great importance to the co-operation of Hajdú-Bihar and Bihor counties. "It is no coincidence that we definitely wanted to create the new motorway connection, as the importance of this is increased by the fact that a high-speed connection was established between Budapest and Oradea, and between Debrecen and Oradea." Their important goal is to create an electric railway connection between the two cities, and a feasibility study was prepared in Debrecen. They are also ready to provide Hungarian government funds, and the Romanian government will be recommended to use the funds recommended by the European Union for the investment.
